ABOUT THE NEW SOLE FOUNDATION

Established in 2023, the New Sole Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

We recognize that amongst the various barriers limiting children’s participation in sport; the cost of participation serves as a major roadblock.

Children from low-income families are disproportionately affected by this barrier; with the rising costs in sports fees and sports equipment leading to lower enrolment and higher attrition rates (Somerset & Hoare, 2018).

At the New Sole Foundation, our aim is to reduce this barrier of cost to make it easier for kids to exercise their fundamental right to play and develop passions, relationships, and lifelong memories through sport.
